Yes, I'm an escapee. Home for a few days of respite while my counts continue their crash and then, hopefully, start their recovery. Have to attend Day Ward for reds/platelets top-ups and monitoring every two days though, so it's more like being out on remand.
That was the good news.
The bad news is that Chris now has to devote even more time to me, pulling in the tasks that the hospital staff would have been doing had I stayed in.
And when my counts have recovered, I'll be an in-patient again for another cycle of the same chemo.
No word yet regarding them finding a suitable stem-cell donor 🙁

IF there is anything I can do to help out just tell me what and I will be there you know that....................
Thanks Chris, good neighbours like yourself are worth their weight in gold. Unfortunately he went back into hospital on Sunday with an infection and will be staying at least until Friday. Was a bit scary (more for me than him), but he is much better now and was happily complaining about the poor air con in his side room. Spoke to him this morning and he got himself moved out of the room - so yes he is definitely recovering!
@Chris Clarke - If there is anything I can help with just say I am always here...............
Holy sh*t, Stef.
I've just been catching up (in reverse order, which is a bit weird) on your last few months. Oddly, I used to get all your posts sent to me by email, but this appears to have stopped - I've no idea why as as you know I'm barely computer literate.
This all sounds like it's going to hell in a hand cart, and I'm sitting here wide-eyed at the twists and turns Chris and your lives must be going through. Your team of consultants seem to get there in the end, but, blimey, they take all the backroads getting there. I've just been scanning your 'Nerds Charts' - I have some of my own and so I am pleased to be among good company here - and this year looks pretty precarious compared to previous years.
I'm pleased to see that you escaped for a curry and beer for quiz night - those little wins stay in the mind as a cheery thing for quite some time. Well done, Sir!
I was thinking back to when we last met and i think it must have been the Dartmoor trip all those years ago. I would add that time flies when you're enjoying yourself, but since then you've been through and are continuing to go through hell fighting AML, the NHS and all the indignities that rotten health can chuck at you.
I really can't think of anything more positive to say, other than fighters carry on fighting, and you've never ducked a scrap. so please carry on doing so. I shall make far more of an effort to keep up with your epic, Stef, and you have my sincerest best wishes for a full recovery.
My best wishes also to Chris, who will need all the support she can muster.
All the very best to you both
Alan
Folks,
Stef sends his apologies for not responding to e-mails and blog posts recently - he was asleep most of the time and for the last few days he has been struggling with the hospital WI-FI. I saw him last night and his infection markers are down and his newts are up so he may be let out of his isolation room soon and I may not have to wear a mask when I visit. It turns out that this has all been caused by the common cold.... as he said if anything is going to kill him he would like it to be something a bit more serious and/or exotic than that!
Hopefully he will be back on line soon - we managed to get an internet connection last night.
Chris.
