Just in case you were wondering, the settings were as follows:
Nikon D50 with 18-55mm kit lens at 18mm and f/3.5, 4-second exposures at ISO 200, Nikon RAW (NEF) files converted to JPGs using the "Auto" settings in PSCS3

Fantastic! Cirrocumulus Floccus? Or maybe Altostratus Floccus. I think it's Something Floccus anyway. Clouds are lovely 😀

  3. BG! says:

Maybe both, Alistair. There were two distinct and well-spaced layers of cloud - the lower one was lit from below by the local light-pollution and from above by the Moon, and the upper one was lit from above by the Moon and from below by reflected light from the lower layer.

Not bad pics for a ten-year-old, eh?

Hi Andy - welcome to the madhouse! I'm glad you like the place.

I've just been having a look through some of your YouTube vids - you've got some great stuff there.

Now then young lady. If your photo is of Cirrocumulus you have scored 40 points in the Cloud Collectors Handbook. But if it's Altostratus, it's worth 10 points plus an extra 15 for generating so much interest in this cloud type. Well done. A career in the Met Office beckons 😀
