A bimble around Braddie Park

Posted by @ 10:45 pm on Tuesday 15th February, 2011.

Chris took yesterday off work so we went out for a Valentine's Day walk at Bradgate Park. Despite the cool breeze and the cloudy weather it was good to get a few hours out together without the kids.

  1. My dear sir,
your photographic skills are par excellence! What an excellent eye you have for a composition. The Ragged Ramblers salute you.

  2. BG! says:

Stand easy, Master Secretary - it's all down to an unhealthy preoccupation with Photoshop, but thanks all the same.

Love your blog, btw - there's a nice element of madness in there that many would appreciate 😀

  3. Esotericus says:

One concurs: the Ragged Ramblers do indeed salute you; and, as the 'Ragged Society of Antiquarian Ramblers' handbook requires, we do so with the cry of all Society members - HUZZAH!

  4. Love your pix. And, yes, great about the forests, isn't it?

  5. BG! says:

@The Solitary Walker - Yes, it's good news about the U-turn regarding the mass-sale of the forests. We must continue to be on the alert for piece-meal sales though.

  6. BG! says:

    @Esotericus - LMAO - you're all mad! That's intended as a compliment, btw 🙂

  7. Dear Sir,

I am Chair of the Ragged Society of Antiquarian Ramblers' 'Etymology, Semantics and Pedantry' association. I am most struck by the word, 'bimble'. Pray, do please tell me what the derivation and meaning of this word is?

    Antiquarian Salutations,
    Mr. Munro Tweeder-Harris, Esq. R.S.A.R.

  8. BG! says:

@Munro Tweeder-Harris - I refer the honourable gentleman to the listing at http://www.urbandictionary.com.....erm=bimble
I'll let you decide which definitions are applicable.

  9. Dear Sir,

'Bimble' is, indeed, a most worthy addition to the lexicon of our Society, especially in the following sense: "To amble without real aim, yet in a friendly and harmless manner." For surely, that is at the heart of Ragged Rambling. I must consult with my colleague, Mr. Many Coats, immediately - he will be in a state of the utmost excitement to learn of this!

The R.S.A.R. 'Etymology, Semantics and Pedantry' association are indebted to you Sir!

May you recline in the glory of a thousand Huzzahs!

    Mr. Munro Tweeder-Harris, esq. R.S.A.R.
