More stuff to try out. Not the most hi-tech bits of kit, but light (106g a pair), simple to use and at £7.90 a pair they're way cheaper than the alternatives available from Petzl and the like. I was so tempted to nab some of the cheap snowshoes at the same time, but managed to resist.

There's always good Tchibo stuff in our local Somerfield store. Ersatz Buffs, surprisingly good gloves, levitating penholders.

It's always worth checking out the offers.

Apart from anything else, those things are worth £7.90 just to learn the term "Schuh-Schneeketten".

Their Microfleece Balaclava is a brilliant bit of kit for £3.90 - I bought a couple two years ago and they're still going strong.
