A few days and nights of freezing fog has given our area an appealing makeover, so yesterday I spend an hour or so out with the camera.

Burbage Common was the venue. As you can see we've not had much snow, most of the white crunchy stuff is frost.

    We've had hardly any of it here, Martin. I'd say that the most snow we've had properly settle in any 24 hour period was about 2" - at no time has the grass on my lawn been completely buried. We've got off light with low temperatures - the coldest has been -12C overnight - but the deep white stuff seems to be avoiding us. No school closures, no swarms of abandoned cars, no sledging opportunities. The most exciting event was when the Fire Service attended a skip-fire a few doors away - the firemen had difficulty locating a hydrant point because of the thick ice on the ground.
    Of course, if I hadn't thought ahead and bought snooshows during the autumn, we'd have had 10ft drifts like when I was a kid 😕
